A New Direction

I translated all this from a journal entry I wrote in Japanese, so sorry if it sounds a little strange. I never thought that I would to translate back form my very own Japanese.

Last week, I decided to change my direction in school.
I have decided not to study the natural sciences anymore.
Until now, Japanese was studied at the university. But because I love studying Japanese, I have decided to continue my studies in that. (笑)
Because I disliked all the classless in Engineering and Computer Science, because they were difficult, and because I was failing them, I withdrew from those classes. Thank goodness. I am relieved.
Therefore, now until the end of the semester, I will be at home. I will have a break for two months, but a part-time job is being searched in the vicinity of the town of my house.
Perhaps, I would like to work with the Starbucks. I would like to drink coffee often, and when drink the caffeine well, I will become super energetic!

After my two months off, I will come back to Hope just for a class during the May Term. I then plan on writing a term paper while going to Japan for two weeks right after that class.

And after that,I intend to study abroad in Nagoya.

Saaa, I look forward to to the future with enjoyment!

Spring Break 1.0

So, my school has this 4-day weekend every February. We got Monday and Tuesday off of school. But, what I did was take the rest of the week off too. Since my week dwindles down to almost nothing by the end of the week, I didn't miss much class. Before the break, I did my homework in advance. The reasons that I extended the break, was the fact that I attended 2 concerts. I went to see "Dir En Grey" on Tuesday night, and I saw "Kill Hannah" on Thursday night. Dir En Grey is a Japanese hard rock group that has been in existence for about 10 years or so. I have been a fan of Dir En Grey for over 4 years, and they finally came to Chicago for the first time ever! I loved that concert so much!! I was the super-fan that had my hands up the entire time screaming and singing in Japanese to all their songs. I will very much want to see them again, but I would prefer to see them in Japan. They seem to appeal to such a different audience in the States. An audience filled with otaku (geeks) and goth peoples with some not even knowing Japanese or their Japan-only albums. In Japan, they appeal to normal girls and guys. As for Thursday night, that was also pretty cool. I went to see Kill Hannah over in Chicago again. (I saw them around Xmas time when they were in Chicago last time). Kill Hannah is a very cool band from Chicago that has a unique musical and visual style that is not generic by any means. The lead singer Matt Divine always sings very well live and has a positive attitude towards life and loves his fans. The only disappointing thing about the concert was that Kill Hannah was not the headliner, it was Papa Roach. The fan base for Papa Roach is very different from Kill Hannah! When Kill Hannah was done and Papa Roach was next, a whole different crowd (with whom I do not associate) came towards the front. Papa Roach does not have a positive attitude towards life and doesn't really care about their fans. Papa Roach is more generic, and does not have a nice visual style.

All in all, this week rocked. And since I was away from school for a week, I shall call this week, Spring break version 1.0.

19th Birthday

Well, this birthday went OK for the most part. It was on the same day as Thanksgiving, so they had a whole parade for me in New York (笑)。 I spent the entire time in my home-town. My family had a Japanese student as a guest. He is pretty cool. I had lots of good food for my birthday this year (笑) The whole weekend was filled with friends seeing each other. On Friday I popped in at this little party for my high school class. I only saw a couple people that I knew, so I left early. Two of my friends that I wanted to see were gone for Thanksgiving, but that is what Christmas break is for. All in all, it was a good time.

Serious Student.

Well, half of my first semester of my 2nd year in college has passed. I got my mid-term grades and was surprised to see how low they were. So, from now on, I have become a pro-active, serious student. I looked over all my assignments in all my classes and made sire I had everything done. I now take more notes in class, Not to read them later, but so that I can do another physical action to help me remember what was learned in class that day.

In other news, I am OK. I am just awaiting my birthday now. My birthday will be the same exact day as Thanksgiving this year. That will be cool. I hope to bring everyone together for my birthday. The weather  here is slightly cold, but still bearable. I will not let that get me down. It is a little less than 5 weeks until then. I Will persevere!

Start of a new School-year

My math and engineering classes seem hard so far. Since it looks as though that they might be a problem I am setting up tutoring. One good thing however is that my GPA went up after the classes I took in Japan! Yay! Now I have that $3, 125 a year scholarship back. My dad will be glad to hear that.

Other than class, I am not doing so well. I can't stand it here. Even though there's a lot more people to socialize with, there is no "stuff" to do around this area. I would also rather hang out with everyone from my hometown. And as always, I would rather be in Japan. ;LOL;
